Cheap Guns You Need To Own

Ruger LCP380, a cheap concealed carry gun

If there’s one thing that endears a firearm when it comes to the online gun reviews, it’s a cheap gun that delivers a world-beating performance. The thing is, there are lots of them out there.

Some of the cheap guns for sale are brilliant, some of the best and certainly the ones that put a smile on our face. They have character, they have a unique design and they have a technical advantage that puts them miles ahead for less money down.

There’s a perverse pleasure in finding a cheap gun that absolutely smashes more established brands at the range and in the real world.

Here are our favorite cheap guns that we think you need to own and the best prices we could find right now.

CZ 75 B - A great double stack 9mm pistol.

1. CZ 75 B

  • Price: $585
  • Caliber: 9mm
  • Capacity: 16+1
  • Barrel Length: 4.6”
  • Overall Length: 8.1”
  • Weight: 2.47lb

The CZ 75 B is a 9mm curveball for the 1911 crew. It’s a double-stack mag, so it leaves most 1911s in its wake and this is a real-world alternative to a Glock 19 in the real world.

It’s reliable and it’s basically a 1911 2.0. Josef and Frantisek Koucky produced a ground-up redesign of the classic 1911 pistol that first saw the light of day in 1975, but really

Sadly, the company couldn’t apply for foreign patents in the name of secrecy and that means this is one of the commonly copied handguns in the world. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery, though, so the CZ 75 B should take it as a compliment.

This is a beautifully-engineered handgun that was a passion project for the newly retired Frantisek Koucky, who was a chief engineer at CZ with his brother Josef. It’s a short recoil, locked breech pistol.

The internals follow the Browning Hi Power pattern and this is a gun you can carry locked, loaded and with the safety on. That’s Condition 1 and some 1911 guys say it’s the only way to travel. Most of them come with a super crisp and clean single action and a long, buttery smooth double action. It’s a surprisingly good gun for novice shooters thanks to the light, easy action and lack of recoil.

You can spend more on the CZ 75 SP-01, which looks the absolute tits and comes with an extended 18-round magazine.

The basic version of this gun is just stellar value, though. It’s cold steel, it’s better than a 1911 and it comes with striker-fired pistol-style capacity and a proper hammer. What’s not to love, seriously?

More than 1 million CZ 75 Bs have sold to the general public and they are also in active service with Law Enforcement Agencies and military units around the world. It’s a reliable gun that you can just about carry and it’s perfect for home defense and range plinking.

9mm is so good now that it’s enough for most home defense situations and this gun was designed to work in a warzone. It’s the total antithesis of the striker-fired polymer pistols that have taken over, and it’s also a 1911 2.0 for pretty much half the money.

DPMS Oracle AR-15, a low budget rifle that is great

2. DPMS Oracle A3 AR-15

  • Price: $499.99
  • Caliber: 5.56 NATO
  • Capacity: 30+1
  • Barrel Length: 16”
  • Overall Length: 36.5”
  • Weight: 6.4lb

It is the best cheap AR-15 on sale in 2018, it really is that straightforward.

The online user reviews are almost perfect and that’s what makes this the best low-budget AR-15 for sale. Seriously, it has 4.8 out of 5 stars on Brownells, which really isn’t easy to do, like at all. Far more expensive guns have been much more harshly treated by the knowledgeable crowd that tend to leave detailed reviews.

It has grouped shots within an inch at 50 yards, it’s reliable and it’s sending pretty much every grade of ammunition down range without a hitch or grumble.

You can’t really ask for much more than that from a cheap AR-15 rifle. That means this gun is a constant feature on the top AR-15s for sale list and we’re not ashamed to say we’ve given it some laurels before. It’s our best sub-$500 AR-15 for sale and that means it belonged on this list.

If you’re looking for a cheap AR-15 then we have some more options here. But the spoiler alert is that the DPMS A3 Oracle is the best low budget AR-15 for sale by far.

Yes it looks like an M4, because it really is a modern testament to a great design. You do get Mil-spec parts, including the critical upper receiver. The upper and lower are made from forged aluminum, the barrel boasts a 1 in 9 twist and the basics are all there.

The furniture is kinda rough, but these are things you can swap out over time with an armorer’s wrench and a few parts and supplies or donor guns lying round.

This is a popular gun with Law Enforcement officers who often want a back-up to their main service weapons. That says it all. The DPMS Oracle A3 AR-15 is a bargain, and you should buy one now.

Here are some other great, low budget AR-15s for sale, but the DPMS is the best by far.

Mossberg Patriot 7mm Rem Mag, the best cheap hunting rifle in the world?

3. Mossberg Patriot 7mm Remington

  • Price: $298.81
  • Caliber: 7mm Rem Mag
  • Barrel Length: 22”
  • Total Length: 42.75”
  • Weight: 7lb
  • Capacity: 4 Rounds

It’s almost hard to fathom that you can take a 1400-yard shot with a gun that costs three crisp $100 bills.

We love the Mossberg Patriot in pretty much every caliber, but there’s something amazing about a 7mm bolt action rifle that can take a mile long shot, just about.

The 7mm Rem Mag isn’t quite getting the same love as the 6.5 Creedmoor these days, and we get that. The smaller round is much more versatile, but this is a great starter long-distance gun. So, if you’re thinking of long distance target shooting, before you invest the money in a big-league .338 Lapua rifle, why not just try it out with one of these and see if you actually enjoy spotting a target with binoculars.

The Mossberg isn’t quite going to offer the metronomic consistency of a Sako .338 but then it is thousands of dollars cheaper. So there’s that.

You don’t get many luxuries with this gun, apart from the chance to hit an Elk at 1750 yards and take it down with one shot. You do also get to shoot steel and punch paper at up to 2200 yards, which is a serious test of skill.

You get a simple black synthetic stock, a beautiful fluted bolt for the bolt action rifle and a 4-round magazine. You also get a recoil pad, which helps.

Get an awesome long distance scope for less than $1000 and you will learn to love this gun that gives a velocity of 2860fps. Apart from that it’s a basic bitch of a hunting rifle that can go in a truck, doesn’t need special care and is an ideal long distance shooting starter rifle. If you’re curious about 7mm Rem Mag, or just want something fun to shoot, this is a perfect, cheap rifle for sale.

GGood ammo costs $1.30 a round,  but 140Gr, boat tails cost 98c from Lucky Gunner. It isn’t cheaper than dirt, but it’s kinda close enough.

4. Century Arms Draco Gun

  • Price: $659.99
  • Caliber: AK-47 7.62x39mm
  • Capacity: 30+1
  • Barrel Length: 6.25”
  • Overall Length: 14.5”
  • Weight: 4.85lb

The Draco Gun is another one of those unique creations that we’re simply happy to have in the world.

It’s basically an AK-47 pistol, with some AK-74 inspired design touches and no folding stock. It’s a near unbeatable truck gun, because it packs a ridiculous amount of firepower into such a small package.

The Draco Gun comes in three basic flavors, but we kind of like the smallest one. It isn’t particularly accurate, but then we genuinely struggle to think of a semi-automatic AR-pistol that we would prefer to have in a dogfight.

Yeah, OK, the Sig Sauer Rattler in 300BLK might be an option, but that’s more than $2000 of gun. This is $650 and when the chips are down it would be a gun you can rely on.

You can read more about the Draco Gun here if you’re loving this Century Arms mini AK-47. You know you want to.

Henry AR-7 Survival Rifle

5. Henry Repeating Arms 22 LR

  • Price: $244.99
  • Caliber: 22 LR
  • Capacity: 8+1
  • Barrel Length: 16.5”
  • Overall Length: 35”
  • Weight: 2.5lb

If and when SHTF, the cheapest rifle in your collection might be the one that keeps you alive.

You can stockpile 22 LR like your life depends on it and then this rifle is an ideal, lightweight weapon to pack and take into the wilderness, or the city streets. The whole rifle breaks down and packs inside the stock. It will even float if you drop it in water.

We’d all love to have Creedmoor hunting rifles and AR pistols, but it’s the basics that can really make the difference if society goes to shit and we’re forced to hunt small game to survive. At that time, the 22 LR Survival Rifle would really earn its keep and you might get some joy out of it before the world ends too.

It’s light enough to throw in a bag and take into the wilderness when you go camping, which could mean the difference between eating Ramen and something altogether more interesting.

The Henry Arms survival rifle is so good, that it features on our list of the best 22 rifles for sale.

Ruger LCP380, a cheap concealed carry gun

6.Ruger LCP 380 Mk1

  • Price: $199.99
  • Caliber: .380 Special
  • Capacity: 6+1
  • Barrel Length: 2.75”
  • Overall Length: 5.16”
  • Weight: 0.6lb

The second generation Ruger LCP is now upon us and it comes with a much better trigger set and mag. But those are basically the only big advantages.

The first generation is still an outstanding small gun that serves as a CCW or a back-up that slips in an ankle holster.

If you’re the kind of person that needs a back-up gun, then maybe take the two pronged approach. Get the cheapest CCW in the world that we’d trust with our lives and then look at some lifestyle changes so you don’t need to carry  it all the time.

It costs less than $200, which is stunning when you think about it.

The Mk2 has taken its place on our list of the best CCW handguns on sale, but this is still the best cheap CCW we know of.
